WAGS AND BRAGS!

Great Lakes members and dogs are actively participating in both hunting and hunt tests.  This page will be a running list of accomplishments and a place for members to post their brags about their dogs' successes.  Simply send the club a rundown of what happened and we'll post it up here for all to see!

Tim Doane and Eli pass Master National!

    Congrats, again, to Tim and Eli for passing the 2009 Master National in Texas.  As I understand it, dogs who pass a certain number of AKC Master tests in a given year are invited to attend the Master National.  This test, analogous to our International Grand Hunt, is the top of the AKC Hunt Test world.  To pass this test is an incredible accomplishment, but to pass both the Grand and Master National in the same month is INCREDIBLE!  Great work, Tim and Eli!

Two New HRCH Dogs in Great Lakes HRC!

    Congratulations to Eric Slater and Mojo and Fred Lehnertz and Grizz for both earning their HRCH titles at St. Clair Flats HRC's fall hunt test!  Both of these guys have worked really hard to get to this point and we couldn't be more proud of their accomplishment!  Way to go!

    Further congratulations go out to Tim Doane for earning Billy's Seasoned title, Ben Petroelje for earning Shelby's Seasoned title, and Elbert Rush for his Seasoned pass at SCFHRC.  Also, Sarah Shull earned a Seasoned title with Ernie, her German Shorthaired Pointer, and got the first finished pass on Rhino, her Curly Coated Retriever!

Ron Crawford passed both of his dogs in Started both days, as well....hmmmm...doesn't that put him awfully close to a title?

Man, it's been a great fall for GLHRC members!

Kankakee River Success

    The Kankakee River HRC fall hunt test on Aug. 15 & 16 saw several GLHRC members earning passes.  Tough tests combined with nearly 90 degree temperatures ensured that these handlers earned their ribbons on this day!

Central/St. Clair Flats Passes

    Congratulations to several GLHRC Members on their successes at Central Michigan and St. Clair Flats combined back to back hunt in May.   Held at Omega Farms in Williamston, this weekend saw some great tests and GLHRC members did extremely well.  The following earned passes.  If I have forgotten your dog's names, please email me to get this brag updated!

Patty Doane: One Started Pass with Lucy
Chad Miller: Two Finished Passes with Dutch

500 Pts!

    Another success at Kankakee River that I overlooked!  My apologies to Janet McKellop.  Janet and her golden retriever, Maverick, earned their 500th HRC point by passing Saturday's Finished test!  Great work, Janet!  This takes a ton of work and training and testing and you and Maverick did it with style!

More Kankakee Success

    Several more members passed tests at Kankakee River on April 18 & 19.  Congratulations to Steve Eidson and Timber, Eric Slater and Mojo, and Tim Doane and Eli on their Finished passes!  Also, congratulations to Brant Haverdink and Sundown's Southern Belle who earned their second and third Started passes.

    Perhaps most exciting, though, was the pass earned by Boden Miller, age 8!  Boden ran his dog, YRP Sundown's Oscar in Started on Sunday and passed.  This was Boden's first ever hunt test and it looks like we have a new hunt test addict in the club! 

Curly-Coat Titles

    Congratulations to HR Ch Podunk's Better Days Ahead WCX JH "Rhino" for earning his Seasoned title and to HRCH Ch Choccashaw's Irish Blessing WCQ MH "Tule" for earning his Finished title at Kankakee River HRC's test on April 18 & 19.  Tule and Rhino brought member Sarah Shull along for the ride and had a great weekend, both passing two tests!

Two more Started Titles!

    Sarah Shull also put Started titles on two of her other dogs this past summer.  Congratulations go out to German Wirehaired Pointer "Angus" - SHR Doyle's Primecut of Raw Power MH who earned his Started title on Sept. 7, 2008 at St. Clair Flats HRC.  We would also like to congratulate German Shorthair Pointer "Ernie" - SHR Hunter's Edge Its All Good for earning his SHR on August 23 at Southern Michigan HRC.  Great work, Sarah, Angus, and Ernie!

Seasoned Title!

    Congratulations to Sarah Shull and HR Ch Choccashaw's Irish Blessing WCQ MH "Tule" for passing Seasoned at Southern Illinois on October 18 to earn his title!  Tule also passed on Sunday.

Started Title!

    Congratulations to Sarah Shull and SHR Ch Podunk's Better Days Ahead WCX JH "Rhino".  Rhino earned his Started title t his summer, but passed his first attempt at Seasoned on Sunday, October 19!  Great Job, Sarah and Rhino!  See the next post (above) for Rhino's daddy's accomplishment!

Grand Dogs!

    In October, members Tim Doane, Kristy Cusack, and Rod Sage (with their dogs, Eli, Tiki, and Shadow respectively) participated in the HRC International Grand Hunt in Davenport, Iowa.  We are extremely proud of this group for putting all their training, testing, and hunting efforts to work on the HRC's biggest stage!

Kristy and Tiki went out in the fourth series and Rod and Shadow went out in the second. 

Great showing to all of you and thanks for raising the bar for GLHRC!
